Camryn Marquez This release will probably suffer from the assumption that it’s substance-less, because the lyrics can appear to callous ears as needlessly hedonistic, but I would question with what authenticity these kinds of people are using to determine the validity of these aesthetics. Life privileges people with a certain appreciation for art and words, and manners of speech become a matter of distinction that certain kinds of people are cut off from. To my ears I hear Space Ape, dub poetry, and the kind of urban ambiguity that would certainly plague your ontology growing up as a person of color. But privileged ears would hear Lil B. You only ever understand if rain falls on an empty house, filled prison, or hospice. Favorite track: Doll.
